bond wires, pads, pins in VLSI

Hello all,


We connect chip circuit to pads through bond wires and then further pad is connected to pins which are shown outside the chip.

Can be connect the chip circuit directly through pins without using pads and bond wires???

What is the role of pads and bond wires??
