Depends on your experience and educational base. In general you can go through some professional cources. Check out this amazing article on how to become a hospice nurse and be ready to follow your dream. I used to work on All American Home Care and should admit that the staff was very professional, I simply adored both of my coordinators because they always got things done, they looked out for my family and I and definitely appreciated them both. So, highly recommended by the way

Thanx. I know that most hospices tend to prefer nurses (RNs and APNs) who have a least a few years of clinical experience in other settings such as home health, med-surg, ICU/critical care, etc. Prior experience in hospice or palliative care would be a plus, but of course you have to start somewhere. Hospices provide their own, often intensive, training/mentoring programs to get you up to speed in the specific nursing skills needed for hospice care.
