In section "1.3 Device Address", it is written that device address can be of two types: random device address and public device address and a BLE device may have both type of device addresses, how is it feasible to have two device addresses at the same time? How will device operate while having both type of addresses?

How will device operate while having both type of addresses? well the public address is a 48 bit universal LAN MAC address of IEEE 802-2001 standard and using a valid organizationally unique identifier obtained from IEEE. And the random address or the access address is used as when two independent Bluetooth devices(when connected) have their transceivers tuned to the same RF Channel, resulting in a physical channel collision. To mitigate the unwanted effects of this collision, each transmission on a physical channel starts with an Access Address that is used as a correlation code by devices tuned to the physical channel. A device shall contain at least one type of device address and may contain both. |
